Julia V. Morris Centennial Garden (JVM Garden)

A food bank garden in Monroe since 1999

The JVM Garden has been donating nutritious, fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs to the Food Bank since the first harvest in 2000.

Find the garden behind the picket fence at the corner of Sky River Parkway and Village Way, next to the Sky Valley Food Bank.

Named after Food Bank founder Julia V. Morris, the JVM Community Garden is dedicated to growing fresh vegetables for the Food Bank, and to providing a place for community members to gather to learn and share the joys of gardening.

The garden’s history began in 1999 when local Boy Scout Heath Hilton earned his Eagle Scout status by turning the quarter-acre vacant lot into a food bank garden. The first harvest was gathered in 2000.

Today the garden is totally managed and maintained by community volunteers, committed to continuing the 20-year tradition of growing healthy food.

Have a green thumb? The JVM Garden would love to spend their growing season with you!
